Gail Johnson,CPM, is a Document Midwife, also known as a Direct Entry Midwife. She is also attained the status of Certified Professional Midwife and is a childbirth educator, doula and montrice.
I am a lifetime member, and past board member of The Association of Texas Midwives and so being, adhere to the Association's standards of practice. I attended the Texas Department of Health (TDH) Midwifery Course in 1988, meeting all requirements for completion of that course and passed the Texas Midwifery Exam.
I am a Documented Midwife in Texas and have met all annual TDH renewal requirements and have consistently exceeded their requirements for continuing education units.
I have attended required courses and met TDH requirements to be a midwifery preceptor in Texas. That is, I am qualified to instruct and train apprentice midwives in all aspects of classroom study and hands-on, practical experience specified to satisfy TDH documentation requirements.
I maintain current certification in CPR (cardia pulmonary resuscitation).
I have attended, completed, and passed the examination for the American Heart Association's Neonatal Resuscitation course and maintain current certification.
I have a certificate of completion for Phlebotomy I, a 27-hour course from Tarrant County Junior College.
I have a certificate of completion for Cervical Cap Fitting.
I have attended numerous conferences, seminars, workshops and lectures concerning topics relating to childbirth.
I have been certified Childbirth Educator with the International Childbirth Education Association.
I am a Certified Midwife - Certified by the Texas Association of Midwives.
I participated in The Russian Birth Project (December 28, 1992 - February 9, 1993). I spent six weeks in a cultural exchange/educational/teaching program in Roddom 2 and Roddom 13 (Russian birth hospitals) in St. Petersburg, Russia. During this time I assisted in 29 births delivered 5 Russian babies. I attended underwater births, a Russian underwater birthing conference, and other educational workshops relating to maternal care.
I have passed the certification examination of the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and am currently listed in the Registry of Midwives (nationwide).
I have completed the certification requirements of North American Registry of Midwives (NARM), the national midwifery educational and testing organization. I have now earned their designation of Certified Professional Midwife (CPM).
I have completed NARM requirements and am designated as a NARM qualified evaluator, i.e., I am qualified to evaluate applicants qualifications and skills required for NARM certification.
